Carl Fredricksen, a lonely widower, a man with a heart full of memories, who embarks upon a journey to fulfill the greatest dream of his recently deceased wife Ellie — to reach the legendary Paradise Falls. He knots thousands of balloons to his house and takes off, to what he hopes will be a harmonious voyage. But things go awry when Russell, a boy scout who is young and overly eager, ends up hitching a ride as an unintentional passenger. Along the way, they end up in a wild jungle full of surprises — including a colorful, rare bird named Kevin and a dog named Dug who is able to talk thanks to a silly invention. But Carl’s childhood hero, Charles Muntz, is far from the noble explorer he’s made out to be. Amidst some surprising friendships, some testy challenges, Carl discovers that sometimes the biggest adventures do not lie in the past — but in the future.
