Simon Hayes
Biography
Simon Hayes was awarded an Oscar for Sound Mixing on Tom Hooper's Les Miserables. He was also awarded the BAFTA for Sound and the CAS award for Achievement in Sound Mixing for his work on Les Miserables. Recent feature credits include Jon M. Chu's Wicked, Rob Marshall's The Little Mermaid, Cary Fukunaga's Bond 25: No Time To Die and Guy Ritchie's Aladdin.
Simon is recognised as one of the most experienced musical production sound mixers globally with 10+ musical feature films on his credits list. He is a pioneer of live on-set vocal recording. He has collaborated regularly with director Matthew Vaughn on Layer Cake, Stardust, Kick Ass, X-Men: First Class, Kingsman:The Secret Service & Argylle. He has also collaborated numerous times with Guy Ritchie on Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Revolver, King Arthur: Knights of the Round Table, Aladdin & UGRP.
Other varied film credits include Ridley Scott's Prometheus & The Counselor, Danny Boyle's Yesterday & Trance, David Yates' Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them & The Legend of Tarzan, Daniel Barber's Harry Brown, Paul Greengrass's Green Zone, Phyllida Lloyd's Mamma Mia! & Edgar Wright's Shaun of the Dead. He was born in London and began his career in the film industry at 16, working as a runner in a commercials production company. At 18 he moved into the sound department as an assistant and then Boom Operator. He mixed his first feature film at 27 years old.
